On behalf of His Majesty King Abdullah II, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, accompanied by Her Royal Highness Princess Salma bint Abdullah II, attended the official inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum on Saturday, a monumental celebration of Egypt’s timeless heritage and global cultural legacy.
Upon their arrival, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and First Lady Entissar El-Sisi warmly welcomed Her Majesty and Princess Salma. The grand ceremony gathered heads of state, dignitaries, and leading cultural figures from around the world, underscoring the museum’s stature as one of the most significant cultural openings of the decade.

The evening unfolded with a speech by President El-Sisi, followed by a captivating series of musical and visual performances that paid homage to Egypt’s extraordinary journey through the ages.
Her Majesty and Princess Salma were given an exclusive tour of the museum’s expansive galleries, which now house tens of thousands of ancient artifacts celebrating Egypt’s rich civilization. Among the most notable collections is that of King Tutankhamun, featuring more than 5,000 artifacts displayed together for the first time.
Also commanding attention is the 83-ton granite statue of Ramses II, an exhibition devoted to King Khufu’s solar boats, and a number of newly restored treasures making their public debut.

Laid in 2002, the foundation of the Grand Egyptian Museum marks more than two decades of vision, artistry, and dedication. Completed in 2023, the vast complex stands adjacent to the Pyramids of Giza and includes a children’s museum, 3D theater, restoration centers, restaurants, and retail spaces.
The Grand Egyptian Museum officially opens to the public on November 4, symbolizing not only Egypt’s enduring connection to its past but also its bold step toward a vibrant cultural future, one that bridges history, art, and innovation under one extraordinary roof.
