Her debut collection, Domestic Silence, stands as a powerful demonstration of the strength that grows in the shadows. The book captures moments of horror, stillness, and inner fracture, yet transforms them into lyrical reflections of hope, liberation, and rebirth. With stark honesty and raw emotional clarity, Yashar writes for those who struggle to articulate their own pain, offering readers both companionship and validation. Her work creates a safe space for anyone who has ever felt unseen, unheard, or confined.

Yashar has a diverse professional background in accounting, finance, operations, and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), which sharpened her analytical discipline, attention to detail, and resilience, qualities that inform her writing. This rare fusion of structure and sensitivity allows her to craft poetry with clarity,  intention, and purpose. As her poetry continues to resonate with readers around the world, Domestic Silence has achieved remarkable international reach. Now sold in more than 30 countries, the book appears across major global retailer platforms and has earned a place at the prestigious Harvard Book Store, a milestone that affirms the cultural relevance and emotional reach of her work.

Beyond her creative contributions, Yashar is becoming a quiet, powerful advocate for open dialogue around trauma, healing, and inner restoration. She views poetry not as a luxury but as a necessity, an accessible form of truth-telling that invites reflection, releases pressure, and allows others to confront untold narratives with compassion rather than fear. Her work links private experience with universal truth, affirming that vulnerability is a form of strength and reclamation.

Yashar aims to dismantle the barriers that isolate people from connection and understanding. For her, poetry is a way to shift pain into possibility and to help others recognize the strength within their own stories. Domestic Silence marks the beginning of Yashar’s growing literary presence, and she remains committed to using her voice to uplift, empower, and remind others that they are never alone. ABOUT THE BOOK

DOMESTIC SILENCEBY TUT YASHAR
DOMESTIC SILENCEBY TUT YASHAR

Domestic Silence is not your conventional poetry collection; it is an act of empowerment. A profound, moving work that transforms pain into art. This plot-driven journey illuminates the hidden realities of domestic violence, the many obstacles life can impose, and the uncompromising will to regain one’s voice.

Tut Yashar showcases an unflinching exploration of life under abuse. She seamlessly blends poetry with self-help, offering both insight and relief to readers who may themselves be navigating private battles. Her poems serve as prevailing affirmations of resilience and determination. Silence is portrayed not as weakness but as a strategy, a deliberate act of self-preservation.

The book’s structure itself mirrors her journey, creating an immersive experience that engages the reader in real-time emotional evolution. It begins in sadness and betrayal, moves through confrontation and survival, and arrives at the slow,  deliberate work of rebuilding. It leads readers through the intricate layers of human experience. Touching a wide spectrum of themes, the pursuit of freedom, the essence of happiness, the complexities of love, the joy of motherhood, and the reality of loss, Yashar’s work moves beyond the personal trauma that shaped it to reflect universal truths.

The author is astoundingly honest. Her voice is unfiltered, direct, and sometimes darkly funny. Her writing is precise, aware, and without sentiment. Short pieces coexist with longer, measured poems. Some offer stillness, reflection, and comfort, while others erupt with fear, anger, or defiance, showcasing the full scale of Yashar’s experience. She does not write to please; she writes to survive, and that survival instinct infuses every line with urgency and purpose. Her words don’t ask for sympathy. They serve as tools. Through rhythmic language and poignant imagery, she reveals endurance and purpose in the face of adversity, gracefully capturing the tension between despair and yearning, helplessness and courage, pain and healing.

This collection belongs among contemporary confessional works that turn private trauma into public conversation, not to shock, but to connect. It will appeal to readers who seek poetry that tells the truth without sugarcoating it: those who value writing that causes reflection on what strength really looks like. It’s for those who understand that pain can be a teacher, and silence can be a weapon.

Ultimately, Domestic Silence celebrates the quiet yet unstoppable power of the human spirit. By breaking the silence, Yashar resonates across lives, demonstrating how poetry can be both therapy and revolution. She offers hope and solidarity, showing that one can endure through the darkest trials. Felt as profoundly as it is read, this collection is a striking testament to willpower, persistence, and the pursuit of happiness, a triumph of reclaiming one’s life against all odds. It is a necessary, unforgettable read.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH TUT YASHAR

How did your own experiences with silence and emotional pressure find their way into Domestic Silence?

They shaped its becoming. The book is framed by a period of lived silence, when emotional pressure and even blessings had to remain hidden as a strategy for safety. My silence is a journey of its own. It’s a story within my story, showing how coercion and choice intertwine to ultimately create a fountain of inner power.

What was the hardest part of turning painful memories into poetry?

The most horrifying experiences were left out. I wrote in real time, and wasn’t able to translate my horror into poetry; it left no room for art. It’s also too dark and personal, non-productive, micro, not macro. That said, the most challenging part was to turn pain into renewal and growth through each piece, and in that, I feel successful.

Why did writing with complete honesty feel necessary for this book?

I always write with complete honesty. It’s necessary because it’s the quickest path to profound development. Being able to present truth to people is my privilege. The book demonstrates that any violence denies freedom. Softening violent acts with the word “domestic” only legitimizes the trampling of natural rights, and raw honesty is the way to confront this reality.

In what ways do you hope readers recognize parts of themselves in your work?

I hope readers recognize their own strength, resilience, and voice. That my work validates, empowers, and encourages self-acceptance of all their parts, including grief and anger. I hope they feel invigorated, hungry for liberation and self-fulfillment. That they identify their deepest wishes and feel inspired to pursue them. That they feel thrilled by their own greatness and opportunities for growth.

How has your background outside of literature influenced the way you write and think on the page?

I am analytical and descriptive. I care about the precision of the process and the final product. I take poems as mind exercises, a means to identify, analyze, solve, and acknowledge certain situations in my life. I present inductive reasoning through my poetry. I focus on concepts instead of details. I draw conclusions based on deep observations of myself and others.

What does reclaiming your voice through poetry look like for you?

Poetry allows me to reconnect with myself. I try to embody in each poem a story, a lesson, therapy, and a strategy. Through writing, I transformed silent endurance into intentional, conscious expression. The process makes me feel empowered, free, and motivated, resulting in satisfaction and joy. After prolonged abuse, thinking freely again is priceless.

Where do you draw the strength to write about things that are often kept hidden?

Mark Twain said, “If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything.” Hiding is an energy-consuming action, whereas exposure radiates energy. Being honest with yourself only requires “being,” and that is the ultimate power source. By reducing energy expense and boosting empowerment, I increase my energetic net profit and can have more fun. Easy choice to make.

How did it feel to learn that Domestic Silence had reached readers in so many countries?

It’s a vast range of emotions. Happiness. Gratitude and humility. Pride. A sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, accompanied by a fresh, mission-driven spirit. A growing sense of responsibility to use my voice in a way that encourages a positive, fruitful dialogue. I published to help people feel embraced with acceptance, and God gifted me with the same in return.

What did seeing your book at Harvard Book Store mean to you personally?

My product, which was solely formed by my mental abilities, was recognized by one of the world’s most prestigious intellectual institutions. It nurtures my ego without inducing arrogance. It’s a visible fruit of my lifelong labor. I always felt like an outcast, and this is a stamp of approval, a certificate of inclusion. I am good enough. It's go time.

Why do you believe poetry still matters in a world that moves so fast?

Any art is meant to encourage conversations, provoke the hidden, arouse the mind, and inspire the spirit. The truth is, nothing matters, and everything matters. People don't move as fast as they'd like to believe, poetry is a pause in the continuity of that illusion. A few lines can make you travel faster than ever, while simultaneously slowing your pace.

How do you hope your work helps open gentler conversations around trauma and healing?

I think I created a space that contributes to the reader’s sense of safety. The vague storyline leaves little room for judgment, allowing readers to concentrate on universal principles often reserved for “worse” scenarios. “Freedom” is the prime example. Whenwe stop being afraid to mention freedom in the context of “self”, true healing can begin.

What are you carrying forward with you as this new chapter of your literary journey begins?

That I can do anything. I am smart. I am kind. I am good. I am loving. I am giving. I deserve to be loved. I am open to receiving. I carry refinement, empowerment, optimism, and gratitude, and treat each moment as a new prime. I choose kindness, integrity, respect, and discipline, and gladly embrace all my ever-changing parts.
