EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH MARIAH CABRALES

What inspired you to start Ariah Beauty?

I’ve always had a deep love for hair and makeup since I was young. The name Ariah Beauty represents my first name, Mariah, and stands for being fierce, beautiful, unstoppable, and intelligent. I created it as a reflection of confidence and strength, not just outer beauty, but the kind that comes from within.

How do you adapt your artistry to seamlessly transition between film, fashion, and weddings?

Each world has its own rhythm, film requires precision, fashion calls for creativity, and weddings hold emotion. I’ve learned to stay grounded and flexible while bringing my unique style into every space. No matter how calm or chaotic the environment, I focus on creating beauty that feels effortless and authentic.

What makes your sold-out makeup line so special and personal to you?

Every shade and product represents my journey, my family, and the people who’ve supported me from the start. Coming from a small town where nothing is handed to you, it means so much to have built something I can share with others. It’s not just makeup, it’s a piece of my story.

What does “beauty” mean to you personally?

Beauty, to me, means being comfortable in your own skin, owning who you are without needing to fit into anyone else’s idea of perfection. It’s confidence, peace, and the ability to express yourself freely.

How do you approach high-profile projects like styling influential figures, including State Senator Janet?

I approach every client the same with respect, authenticity, and excitement. I value real connections and believe every person who sits in my chair deserves to feel seen and appreciated. Titles aside, it’s about creating a genuine bond and making the moment fun and memorable.

How do you stay inspired as an artist after years in the industry?

My inspiration comes from my clients and the stories they share. Every face, every personality, and every moment reminds me why I love what I do. I stay grounded, I keep learning, and let creativity flow naturally instead of forcing it.

How have your collaborations with filmmakers, scientists, and Native-focused productions shaped your perspective on beauty?

Those experiences have taught me that beauty goes far beyond appearance its culture, storytelling, and emotion. Working in different creative spaces has opened my eyes to how hair and makeup can express identity, history, and pride. It’s one of the most powerful forms of art.

How would you describe your personal style both in life and in your work?

My style is calm, creative, and versatile. I draw inspiration from the world around me and bring that perspective into my work. Each look I create is a reflection of my artistry and my belief in confidence, passion, and embracing individuality.

What has been the most rewarding part of your journey so far?

The most rewarding part has been seeing how far I’ve come. I started with a dream and turned it into my reality. Being able to work for myself, meet incredible people, and grow every single day reminds me that hard work and faith really do pay off..

What message do you hope your clients and followers take away from your work?

I hope they see that anything is possible. You don’t have to wait for permission to chase your dreams just start, even if it’s small. I want people to feel empowered to walk into any room knowing their presence matters. I hope they get inspired to believe in themselves and go after what they truly want.

What advice would you give to young artists trying to find their voice in the beauty industry?

Stay true to who you are. The beauty industry can be intimidating, but your individuality is your power. Don’t let comparison stop you. Keep learning, keep creating, and never give up, even when it feels impossible.

How do you manage the pressure of maintaining creativity while running a business?

I actually thrive under pressure, it pushes me to think fast, stay sharp, and create some of my best work. The key for me is balance. I embrace the busy moments but also make time to recharge when I can. That mix keeps my creativity flowing and my passion strong. What’s one moment in your career that made you feel, “Yes, this is exactly what I was meant to do”?

Early in my career, I had the opportunity to do both hair and makeup for the State Senator. At the time, I was still finding my confidence as an artist, and being trusted with such an important client felt surreal. In that moment, I realized that my skills could do more than create a look I could boost someone’s confidence, help them feel powerful, and remind them of their worth. I’ll always be grateful for that experience because it showed me that even at the very beginning, I was exactly where I was meant to be.

How has living in Colorado influenced your artistry?

Colorado has been such an inspiring place to grow my craft. It’s filled with creatives, culture, and beautiful energy. The people I’ve met and the opportunities that have come from being here have truly shaped me as an artist and as a person.
