THROUGH TIME: A NOVEL ABOUT BALLET , A POWERFUL STORY OF ART, SACRIFICE, AND SELF-DISCOVERY

Through Time: A Novel About Ballet is more than a ballet novel. It is a deeply emotional exploration of ambition, discipline, identity, motherhood, love, loss, and artistic purpose. The novel follows the life of Elizabeth, a gifted ballerina whose existence becomes inseparable from the demanding yet beautiful world of dance.
From childhood dreams and rigorous training to emotional heartbreak and life-changing decisions, Elizabeth’s journey unfolds with remarkable emotional authenticity. Ballet becomes a metaphor for transformation itself , a force that shapes identity while simultaneously demanding sacrifice.
Julia Androsiuk’s background as a professional ballerina gives the novel extraordinary realism and emotional credibility. Readers are not simply observing ballet from the outside; they are immersed within its emotional core. The rehearsals, discipline, exhaustion, ambition, vulnerability, and passion are portrayed with rare honesty and sophistication.
The novel also explores the invisible emotional world that exists behind performance , the personal struggles artists often conceal beneath grace and perfection. Through elegant prose and emotionally rich storytelling, Julia examines how art can become both a sanctuary and a challenge, healing wounds while demanding emotional endurance.
For readers passionate about ballet, performing arts, women’s fiction, emotional storytelling, or artist-centered narratives, Through Time: A Novel About Ballet offers a compelling and unforgettable literary experience.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH AUTHOR JULIA ANDROSIUK
Q. What inspired you to write Through Time: A Novel About Ballet, and what drew you to tell this story through the world of dance?
Julia: Through Time was inspired by parts of my own life and experience in the world of ballet. I wanted to reveal the reality behind the beauty of the stage, the sacrifices, emotional struggles, discipline, and the hidden world behind the curtains that dancers and performers live through every day.
Q. In what ways did your own experience as a professional ballerina influence Elizabeth’s journey and emotional world?
Julia: My personal experience as a professional ballerina deeply influenced Elizabeth’s journey because her character is largely inspired by my own life. Through her emotions, challenges, dreams, and struggles, I was able to express many real feelings and experiences from my years in the world of ballet.
Q. What did you hope readers would understand about the dedication and emotional complexity behind ballet?
Julia: I wanted readers to understand how difficult the world of ballet truly is behind the scenes, the sacrifices dancers make, the emotional and physical pressure they experience, and the hidden side of an art form that often appears only beautiful and effortless from the outside.
Q. How important was it for you to explore both the beauty and the sacrifices that come with pursuing an artistic passion?
Julia: It was extremely important for me to show not only the beauty of ballet, but also the sacrifices behind it. That was one of the main ideas and purposes of this book, to reveal the emotional, physical, and personal challenges dancers face while dedicating their lives to art.
Q. What was the most rewarding part of bringing movement, emotion, and performance into a written story?
Julia: The most meaningful part for me was transforming movement and emotion into words so readers could truly feel what a dancer experiences on stage and behind the curtains. I wanted people to connect emotionally with the characters and feel the passion, pain, beauty, and intensity of ballet.
Q. How does Elizabeth evolve throughout the novel as she navigates ambition, love, loss, and self-discovery?
Julia: Throughout the story, Elizabeth experiences a wide spectrum of emotions and goes through many different roles in her life, as a dancer, a woman, a partner, and a mother. Through love, pain, ambition, and self-discovery, she gradually becomes stronger, wiser, and more emotionally mature.
Q. Why was it important for you to center themes like resilience, healing, and personal growth in the story?
Julia: For me, resilience and personal growth are at the heart of ballet itself. Without sacrifice, discipline, and emotional strength, there would be no true success. I wanted to show how challenges and struggles shape not only great dancers, but also strong and deeply developed individuals.
Q. How has your background as a choreographer and dance educator shaped your approach to storytelling?
Julia: My experience as a choreographer and dance teacher gave me a deeper understanding of the emotional and physical realities dancers face every day. It helped me create a more authentic story, filled with realistic emotions, discipline, passion, and the atmosphere of the ballet world behind the stage.
Q. What do you hope dancers, artists, and general readers connect with most deeply in Through Time?
Julia: I believe dancers and artists will deeply connect with the discipline, sacrifice, and emotional intensity of the story, while general readers may relate to the universal themes of love, ambition, personal growth, and the search for identity. At its heart, Through Time is a story about the human experience.
Q. How did writing an emotional adult novel differ from creating imaginative children’s books like Balletlandia?
Julia: They are completely different forms of storytelling with very different purposes. Writing an adult ballet novel allowed me to explore deep emotions, personal struggles, sacrifice, and emotional growth, while my children’s books are focused more on imagination, creativity, magic, and inspiring young readers through fantasy and wonder.
Q. What do you think makes ballet such a powerful symbol of identity, transformation, and emotional expression?
Julia: I believe ballet is such a powerful symbol of identity and transformation because it requires discipline, constant self-improvement, sacrifice, and complete dedication. Through ballet, people discover their inner strength, express emotions without words, and grow both emotionally and personally through every challenge they face.
Q. As both an author and artist, what kinds of stories are you most excited to explore in the future?
Julia: My books are very personal and focused on themes that truly matter to me. I usually write about subjects that deeply touch me emotionally and are often inspired by personal experiences or real feelings. I am most interested in creating honest stories with emotional depth and meaning.
Q. How do you feel about being featured in Voraka Magazine, and what does this recognition mean to you?
