Q. What first stirred the conviction within you to begin writing Awakening the Remnant and to call readers toward spiritual awakening and discernment?
Melissa: The conviction to begin writing Awakening the Remnant came from a deep spiritual realization that many believers sensed something shifting, but could not fully articulate it. Through prayer, Scripture, and reflection, I recognized a growing need for discernment in a time of confusion. I felt called to encourage believers to seek truth sincerely, return to the authority of God’s Word, and develop spiritual awareness to navigate a complex world.
Q. How did the prophetic vision of dry bones in Ezekiel 37 become the spiritual and symbolic foundation of your Awakening the Remnant series?
Melissa: The vision in Ezekiel 37 presents a powerful image of restoration. It reflects a people who appear spiritually lifeless, yet are revived when God breathes life into them. This resonated deeply with what many experience today, spiritual exhaustion alongside a hunger for truth. The vision became the foundation of the series, symbolizing awakening, restoration, and renewed identity, showing that even in dryness, God can restore purpose and life.

Melissa: We live in an era where information travels faster than ever before, yet clarity often feels harder to find. People are constantly exposed to competing ideas and interpretations of truth. This makes discernment essential. Scripture calls believers to examine what they hear carefully. In a rapidly changing world, many are seeking stability, and for Christians, that foundation remains the enduring truth found in the Word of God.

Melissa: While writing the first book, I realized that the conversation around spiritual discernment was only beginning. Many began asking deeper questions about how deception works through systems, ideas, and narratives. The second book explores these layers and how they shape belief systems. It reflects the idea that when truth is pursued sincerely and Scripture is applied faithfully, false foundations, no matter how established, begin to collapse.

Melissa: My approach begins with the understanding that questions are not the enemy of faith. Scripture encourages seeking wisdom and understanding. I emphasize returning to the biblical text rather than relying solely on tradition. Scripture serves as the anchor through which ideas can be evaluated. The goal is not division, but clarity, helping readers engage sincerely so their faith is strengthened through understanding rather than weakened by confusion.

Melissa: Discernment involves both spiritual sensitivity and intellectual reflection. Faith is not only emotional; it requires wisdom and thoughtful understanding. Melissa: Deception is rarely effective when it presents itself openly. It often works gradually through ideas that appear reasonable or traditions accepted without question. Over time, these influences shape perception. Scripture warns about subtle deception because ideas can influence generations. That is why discernment is essential, examining beliefs carefully and returning to Scripture helps reveal when subtle shifts begin to move understanding away from truth.
Q. How has your own spiritual journey shaped the tone of urgency and conviction that readers encounter in your writing?
Melissa: My writing reflects years of personal reflection, study, and spiritual growth. Like many, I have experienced seasons of questioning and rediscovery. Through this, I realized how important it is to approach faith with sincerity and humility. The urgency in my writing comes not from fear, but from recognizing how deeply spiritual awareness shapes our understanding of ourselves, our faith, and the world around us.
Q. What transformation or awakening do you most hope readers experience as they engage with the ideas explored in your books?
Melissa: My hope is that readers develop a deeper relationship with Scripture and a stronger sense of spiritual awareness.
